BACKGROUND

kim olson/sweet edge is a contemporary dance company founded in 2001 by Choreographer and Artistic Director, Kim Olson. The company debuted its first work to prodigious acclaim at the Teatro del Estado in Xalapa, Mexico in early 2001.

kim olson/sweet edge has worked in collaboration with a number of artists, such as renown musician and composer Mark Deutsch, costume designer Esther Kang, and film artist and writer Nikki Widner, video/dance artist Ana Baer, and photographers James Glader, Robert Goldhamer, and David Andrews.


MISSION

kim olson/sweet edge is a contemporary dance company which aims to create and perform innovative dance works for this amazing age of possibility in which we live. We serve diverse audiences of all ages and ethnicities with performances and events in theatres, community centers, schools, and alternative spaces. Our artistic vision is to create dance that reveals an overwhelming sense of awe of the human condition. Choreographic structures challenge, distort, and reflect the subtleties and complexities of our daily lives and weave a tapestry textured with rich interactions and raw physicality.


FACTS

kim olson/sweet edge is a not-for-profit 501c-3 organization. The company works through Young Audiences, Inc. bringing performances and residencies to schools throughout Colorado and is in permanent residence at Mosaic Movement Arts of Boulder.   ko/se is associated with Colorado Dance Alliance, Dance-Forms Productions, The Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Boulder County Arts Alliance, and Boulder Arts Resource. The company is one of the only performance organizations outside New York City represented by Pentacle.
